The industry implements a large number of programs to promote science, including the Atomic Dictionary project, and collaborates with bloggers in popular social media.
Promotion of the achievements of nuclear science is part of ROSATOM's educational mission, as well as a mechanism of attracting future academic staff at the stage of school education. This is a good way to involve scientists of all ages in the process.
A broad program was started in 2022 for a systematic identification, involvement, and selection of talented schoolchildren for the forward-looking training of young professionals.
This program includes activities aimed at career guidance of schoolchildren to choose the academic career, increasing their science and technology competences, and promotion of nuclear science. Science workshops, technical tours to research organizations of the industry, contests, foresight sessions, scientific entertainment games, individual career consulting, and other activities are offered for schoolchildren. Over 130 thousand people took part in these activities in 2022. Major federal educational organizations and movements act as partners in industry events for schoolchildren.
For a more effective contact with schoolchildren, Science and Innovations has established ROSATOM Science for Schoolchildren community, where educational and career guidance content is posted, useful events are announced, and discipline-related contests are held.
In 2022, the Industry Council of Young Scientists (hereinafter – the CYS) was established to implement and coordinate the youth policy of ROSATOM and Science Division, including initiatives, projects, and activities of the federal agenda of Science and Technology Decade.
Key functions of the Council:
The Council of Young Scientists has 45 participants from different divisions (science, fuel, electric power, NWC).
The young scientists included in the first Council of Young Scientists have been screened in a competition which consisted of several stages (both formal criteria, academic and publication activity, and the recommendations of the organization's Director General and Academic Director have been taken into account).
Several major tasks for the CYS are planned for 2023:
